I'm not struggling to think up possible scenarios. Kerio is old and full of holes and trivial attack vectors. Never mind aye. > Also, that the KGB are good guys, Well, compared to the > competition. I don't recollect AI proffering an opinion on that subject, so one of the three of us must be hallucinating and I don't think it's Gemini. It's gonna be so proud when I tell it that in this context it's not a suspect. > Oh, ask Gemini about the processors inside the processors. > Every single server in the EU and your little island(s) runs American > designed and built CPUs with baby CPUs inside them. Out of band management has existed for donkey's years. I was using it over a quarter of a century ago iLO and its predecessor who's name I cannot remember, and later AMT on Intel ME which I used for workstation management with vPRO processors, shit I think that was 20 years ago so out of band must be even older. > So every single > server ignores any data protection laws because there is a not-so-tiny > third party OS running underneath the "official" OS. OK, I've only just looked at this but here is my opinion which is unlikely to be complete and may not be accurate. Quite why you have to exaggerate I dunno. The reality is serious enough. It is interesting because for US companies it could be a major headache or that was my first thought. So it's not true that data protection laws don't apply because clearly the GDPR does in the EU for a start. However, US companies with servers in the EU could be compelled to disclose data on their servers in secret to US gov, not US citizen data of course, we nick and process that for them, otherwise yunno the constitution, So, this isn't a secret hardware problem. These things have existed for decades, it's a legal problem for US companies. They will not be able to comply with both the GDPR and the CLOUD Act. One or the other legal domains will legally be able to do something nasty to their bottoms.
