Apparently the term "crippleware" has been accepted into common usage:

However, through the process of pejoration (a type of linguistic
semantic change where a word's meaning degrades over time, shifting from
a positive or neutral connotation to a negative, derogatory, or
disparaging one), it has unnecessarily become "offensive" to some
people. Often when a term's usage is assumed to be intended to be
negative when in fact, it's not.

Classic examples of this process include:

Silly: Originally meant "happy," "blessed," or "innocent" in Middle
English, but it gradually degraded to mean "foolish" or "lacking good
sense".

Notorious: Once simply meant "widely known," but now means "widely and
unfavorably known" for a bad trait or deed.

Villain: Started as an entirely neutral term referring to a farm laborer
or peasant (villanus), eventually degrading to mean a wicked person or
criminal.

Pejorative: The adjective/noun form describing words, phrases, or
suffixes that express contempt, disapproval, or insult.

1400s–1500s: Negro — Spanish and Portuguese word simply meaning "black
in color, derived from the Latin word "niger"

1619 and lat 1700s: Negars / Negars — English and Dutch colonists words
which were a phonetic spelling and phonetic adaptation of the
Spanish/Portuguese word "negro", rendering how the word sounded to
English and Dutch speakers before English orthography (spelling rules)
became standardized and used  to denote a person with black-colored skin.

Early 1800s: Nigger — Word used by white Americans which was a direct
phonetic corruption and mispronunciation of the word negro or the French
variant nègre. It functioned literally as a phonetic rendering of the
accent and pronunciation of white speakers in the American South, and
was the term which eventually evolved into a deliberately derogatory usage.

Mid-to-Late 1900s: Nigga — Black Americans. A word which is a direct
phonetic spelling variant of the word "nigger", reflecting the
non-rhotic pronunciation (dropping the "r" sound at the end of a word)
characteristic of African American Vernacular English (AAVE).

1960s: Black — Black American citizens. The literal English adjective
for the darkest color, originating from the Old English word blæc
(meaning dark or devoid of light), used as a direct translation of the
original Spanish/Portuguese descriptor negro.


So through this long path of pejoration, all that basically happened was
that the original term was simply translated into English.

The Euphemism Treadmill: A phenomenon where inoffensive words are
created as polite replacements for taboos or unpleasant concepts, but
continuously undergo pejoration over time (e.g., "privy-house" to
"latrine" to "water closet" to "toilet" to "bathroom.)

Oftentimes, pejoration is deliberately and directly steered by
"spin-doctors" in order to socially engineer common consensus. This
process was clearly described by George Orwell in his masterpiece, "1984".
