I'm having a problem with Win 11 which resets my background
'wallpaper' every morning at midnight - when what I want is to keep my
chosen wallpaper (all black - it makes reading the subtext under the
icon easier) permanently or at least till the next time I want to
change it.

There's got to be a way but I haven't found it yet.
