I tried this because I know JC is a fan and the interface is very nice but..

The clarity of the sound is just not as good as VLC and I'm not kidding, 
really check it out, VLC turns up to 11. In fact up to 125%. The 
triangular thingy bottom right turns up to red. It's called Digital 
Audio Gain.

VLC sucks however at mp4. Irfanview displays much better. I notice it 
when doing documentation videos using ShareX. You can document scrolling 
pages in GUIs and stop on any frame any it's almost as good as a screenshot.
