I don't see this post in Google groups and the newest post in alt.fan.usenet says 6:38am and it's 3 in 
the afternoon in California, it looks like it's over, we can post on usenet without our posts showing up 
in groups. And there's also a banner that says new usenet posts or new subscriptions no longer supported.
