This added precision means that many Achievement percentages can only be fa= ctored into specific whole numbers. (This is useful since each game's playe= r count must be a whole number.) With multiple Achievements to check agains= t, it's possible to find a common denominator that works for all the percen= tages with high reliability. This process allows for extremely accurate rev= erse engineering of the denominator representing the total player base for = an Achievement percentage. I would like to think that if I have assassins trained in a city that has t= he "master guild", that my assassins would have at least a relatively good = chance of being very successful in their endeavours.Your thoughts? AuthorRe= plies: Brother Noopsy=20 Legionary posted 18 November 2006 17:01 EDT (US) 1 / 27 I think the assass= ins are useless. I'm in turn 89 playing as England and I have 5 assassins. = They cannot seem to murder anyone. I've tried against the Scots, Danes, Mil= anese, French, Diplomats, Spys and generals and not a one is ever successfu= l. They don't get caught and executed either they just fail with every atte= mpt. One had a 48% chance and still blew it. They have failed so often that= whoever they try to kill is now about a 5% chance.I have a big crowd of ot= her countries agents around cities in Europe but I can't get rid of any and= then they bribe my armies. Rabidnid=20 Banned posted 18 November 2006 17:05 EDT (US) 2 / 27 I've not had one with= a sucess chance of higher than 14% and haven't killed anybody in about 20 = attempts. julii_general=20 Legionary posted 18 November 2006 17:05 EDT (US) 3 / 27 yeah assasins are = a waste in time here. In RTW you could make a good assasin and make him a killing machine working= together with a spy,but in in M2TW assasins are too weak. Aussie Lord=20 Legionary posted 19 November 2006 01:46 EDT (US) 4 / 27 My assassins are d= oing okay i was spain and the moors kept sending there priest guys in my pr= ovinces so i assainated them and killed them first time then attacked anoth= er one and tryed about 3 times then killed him.But you see if assassins are= to powerful the game will just be stupid you could wipe out a faction by k= illing there faction leaders with assassins not on the battlefield Brother = Noopsy=20 Legionary posted 19 November 2006 02:54 EDT (US) 5 / 27 "But you see if as= sassins are to powerful the game will just be stupid you could wipe out a f= action by killing there faction leaders with assassins not on the battlefie= ld"That is true but the point is that the assassins in M2TW are never succe= ssful. Out of my 5 assassins at least two should have one or two successful= attempts to build up their skills. Besides, they should sometimes be able = to kill off faction leaders and heirs. In Rome some assassins were hopeless = and occassionally you had a really good one who built up enough skills but = even they get caught and executed eventually. Assassins in M2TW just seem l= ike a waste of money. As I said in my earlier post I'm surrounded by enemy = agents. I should be able to kill some of them, especially merchants, or the= y play havoc on my cities, armies and trade. Brock88=20 Legionary posted 19 November 2006 03:04 EDT (US) 6 / 27 The problem is, un= less you have a guilde or some other building that offers skills, most agen= ts you recuit will have no skill or 1. They should make it so they start ou= t with 2 or 3 skill points.Never lie, steal, cheat, or drink. But if you mu= st lie, lie in the arms of the one you love. If you must steal, steal away = from bad company. If you must cheat, cheat death. And if you must drink, dr= ink in the moments that take your breath away. Guilds help, but you're right...it's not easy to get a good assa= ssin. It takes persistance and some (or a lot of) luck. But you will eventu= ally get a good one. In the game I'm playing right now as England (M/M), th= e Pope was upset at me and I was warned that if I attacked France I would b= e excommunicated. They were down to one province and I really wanted to fin= ish them off. The Pope was relatively young and I didn't want to wait, so I= had my best assassin in the area of Rome and decided to take a crack at a = Pope assassination.Let's just say that France was eliminated, there are now= three newly-open spots in the College of Cardinals where the French Cardin= als were, and I should have a decent shot at electing one of mine Pope next= turn.My point is not to gloat, my point is that assassins can work. But in= nearly 100 turns, I've only had a couple good ones, and not that many succ= essful assassinations. Just do easy missions until they get better skills a= nd retainers (especially retainers), and just accept that you are going to = lose lots of assassins in the process of making a few good ones. It's not s= upposed to be easy. Insert JFK speach here. No, I'm not being sarcastic.[Thi= s message has been edited by Smileyman007 (edited 11-19-2006 03:36 AM).] = bottle_rocket=20 Legionary posted 19 November 2006 08:35 EDT (US) 8 / 27 Yeah - but it is s= till to hard. Tbe manual says you should start an assasin off with a few ea= sy targets, but the way things are there's none.I managed to get an assasin= to 'off' and enemy captain, only for him to lose the traits he'd picked up= with a success the next time there was a fail.I find myself constantly bui= lding assasins and sending wave after wave (10-15) against priests and inqu= isitors with no results.
