You need to take into aaccount something
new: firewall, machines that read TCP/IP
traffic and determine whether someone's
spam became hits on the firewall, then
determine whether it was a flooding
attack. :)

But then, I have never ever designed
nor configured a firewall. I have NEVER
seen a firewall machine in data centers.
So.... I had no idea about them.

The most famous firewall machines came
from Cisco???? ;)
