I use a commercial KVM with my computers, one that is widely used with
servers. They can be bought very cheap second-hand though ye may search
for cables, and if they have had a previous hard life ye may find ye
need to replace all the electrolytic capacitors.

Search eBay for "OmniView PRO2 BELKIN 8-Port KVM Switch F1DA108T"

Supports both USB and PS/2, and VGA - which I sometimes don't use if I
have alternate HDMI/DVI/DisplayPort connections.

Belkin has maybe a bit of a bad name for computer bits, but this box
ticks my boxes.
