I also experienced problems with USB3.
I have 4 of them
Bus 001 Device 003: ID 13ba:0018 PCPlay Barcode PCP-BCG4209

Since I connected it to a USB2 port, it seems to work fine.
I don't know why it is so hard to produce a controller that works with
USB3.
