AFAIK, you later posted that this problem is also solved, but as to your question: Why didn't you just connect your earbuds/headphone/<whatever> to the output jack of the MP3 player? That's what that jack is *for*. No need for complex/tricky/bound_to_fail PC (and software) setups, when you can use the device as it's designed for.
