Five Nights at Freddy's: Help Wanted is a 2019 virtual reality survival horror video game developed by Steel Wool Studios and published by ScottGames. It is the eighth main game in the Five Nights at Freddy's series, following Ultimate Custom Night, and the ninth installment overall. It presents itself as "The Freddy Fazbear Virtual Experience", produced for the fictitious corporative entity Fazbear Entertainment to help improve its public image after a series of debilitating lawsuits, following several incidents and disasters that allegedly occurred at their various locations.

The Switch controls work well, but the game never properly explains how they work. When you load up a level, Help Wanted gives you basic instructions on what to do, but doesn't always tell you how to use the controls to accomplish that goal. For example, I was having trouble in the first three games using the camera system until I discovered you can easily maneuver the cameras with the right stick. Knowing the camera controls would have been extremely helpful.

Within the game you work for Fazbear Entertainment, and the main plot somewhat resembles that same plot as the original Help wanted. The player must must conduct repairs, manage the pizzeria, and complete many other tasks. There are multiple locations and characters within the game and each location has different tasks.


With so many lore reveals occurring before the release of Help Wanted 2, fans have long suspected that the title will connect the dots between FNAF: Security Breach, Sister Location, and Pizzeria Simulator, a notion that this week's reveals have seemingly proven correct. In its PlayStation Blog post, Steel Wool Studios revealed that Help Wanted 2 will feature six categories of minigames. Backstage minigames will see fans aid and repair the Mega-Pizzaplex's Glamrock Animatronics. Fazcade minigames will feature carnival-like experiences during which random horror scenarios can be discovered. Food Prep will see fans work in the Kitchen of El Chips, preparing food for guests. Staff Only, perhaps the most mysterious of the minigame categories, will see players perform basic first aid for guests, including limb amputation, while ensuring that patient's screams don't draw unwanted attention.


Five Nights at Freddy's: Help Wanted 2 has been released, and that means there's a new set of endings to dig into for lore. The first Help Wanted game set up the plot for FNAF: Security Breach by revealing how Afton - or at least his consciousness - could return by essentially becoming a computer virus. Similarly, Help Wanted 2 helps explain events that happen in FNAF: Security Breach Ruin.


While Help Wanted 2 isn't the most mysterious entry in the franchise, it provides context that helps clarify the events of Security Breach and Ruin. Additionally, it reaffirms the likelihood that Glitchtrap has been able to take a physical form once more by possessing the Mimic, bringing William Afton back into the world. Right now, it's not possible to tell what new horrors Afton will commit if he truly does have a new physical body to use after seeing the endings of Five Nights at Freddy's: Help Wanted 2.


In playing the game, the player learns the true story of what really happened during the VR experience's development, and gets a few scares of their own along the way. Help Wanted 2 will continue that saga, giving us more virtual reality-inspired fun through a Five Nights at Freddy's lens. Plus, if you wanted to try out a VR version of Five Nights at Freddy's: Sister Location, you'll get that as part of the Help Wanted 2 package. It's a massive new FNAF sandbox, and it arrives just in time for the holidays.


The May 2023 PlayStation Showcase showed off a number of unexpected remakes, direct sequels, and spiritual successors to some of gaming's most underrated gems, including "Dragon's Dogma 2," "Alan Wake 2," and "Helldivers 2."
