If so, can someone please so me how to make this happen? Wintec WBT-100 is a multi-function Bluetooth GPS data logger in an ultra compact(48g) form factor. The stand-alone track recording function is independent from any host and can be operated with Bluetooth off. The recorded track can be configured and even uploaded to Google Earth automatically with the bundled GPS utility. WBT-100 has a built-in electronic compass with auto-correction feature. It provides accurate heading information just like a regular magnetic compass. I mean...this seems like a SERIOUS issue if your users can NOT even uninstall your software. Since my original post....I've installed a system repair tool called Restoro and had it analyze my system. I've been also getting some BSOD and it is indicating that they are being caused by a Workspace App file. I'm away from home at this moment and not at the desktop PC so can not provide the file name. But perhaps one of these BSOD's that I experienced early on now has Workspace borked and inoperable. Regardless, there MUST be a cleanup utility or some way to uninstall, so I can reinstall. I use it all the time and it work very well - I does not record the directional information, only the coordinates. Canons Map utility is the free viewer for the gps info and can also be used to copy GPS info to other eos cameras used in parallel which I like a lot. Canon DDP4 shows the GPS coordinates recorded to CR3 with the GP-E2 on the R. My own workflow typically is different since I use more than one camera (R, 6d3, 7d2). I synchronize them by attaching the GP-E2 to have exact time on each of the cameras. Then most of the time I only switch on the GP-E2 in LOG mode without connecting it to the cameras (mostly a question of space in the bag and since I am not interested in the directional info). At home I download the track info with the Canon GPS Log File Utility (or the now outdated Map Utility). The Map utility can only use the log to update the CR2 files! The CR3 are not supported (for those you would have to connect the GP-E2 all the tim to the corresponding camera). After raw development to jpg I use the free GeoSetter Program to copy the track files to the final pictures. This is accurate within a few seconds depending on your GP-E2 settings at works for all used cameras at the same time. The manual of the RP clearly states it should work without the compass. Personally I loved having the compass, especially it you are trying to locate a certain comet in the sky. I can only assume Canon crippled the GPS to save batteries on what is already a pig. As they made their historic trek north and west from Camp Dubois, near St. Louis, to the rugged coast of what is now Oregon, the explorers did not always know what it was they were seeing. A brilliantly researched, lavishly illustrated book by Carolyn Gilman, Smithsonian Books), mentions Captain Lewis taking a compass reading (N.65ºW.) on a mountain he mistakenly thought was part of the Rockies. I have a lot of problems with magnetic interference from the 18650 batteries and have not been able to create enough space between the battery and the compass on a small multirotor. Does anyone have a practical solution to this kind of problem? My impression is that there are several drones that use 18650 batteries. When monitoring the mag-field reported from arducopter, I see that i need at least 30cm distance between the battery and the compass before the magnetic field from the battery makes a low impacton the measurement. How did you solve that on a sub 250? Button compasses are most useful to good navigators who understand when to use coarse methods, and when to use fine methods. If you have the knowledge and experience to use coarse methods like handrails, catching features, collecting features, and general terrain association then a functional button compass can be effective if it is all you have. (Google those last 4 terms and you will learn something useful). Button compasses are a reasonable option as backups to a 'real' compass, thus their popularity in compact survival kits. Then in 1996 we went to Argentina for a climb. Everything changed. It was summer in January, and I don't think I ever found the noon sun. The most snow and ice was on the South side. Fortunately, I had a GPS receiver along. Once I got it set to the datum for that part of the world, it was ready, but I kept wondering why everything was backwards in the sky. I love the Suunto global needle compasses. Even if you don't travel far from your home area, the global needle damps very fast and is more forgiving of being held less than perfectly level. They are very stable and readable while moving. I did the compass test the way Roger explained in his post before I threw it away basically I think it was the Captain Jack Sparrow Compass. It was just a faulty compass I have found that with most button compasses some are accurate and some are inaccurate . I have the orienteering merit badge in boy scouts and I personally like a proper compass and map for trail navigation because it saves walking distance because they show the points and degrees in between North,South,East,West that is needed for proper cross country navigation. Terry Okay for general direction finding, but a lot of them I have looked at lately are bad. N is pointing to NE or NW. One really bad one was pointing to WNW when it should have been pointing to north. Its best to check them against a good compass. I keep a button compass in my emergency kit. I tested it against a couple known good compasses to be sure it was accurate. I have found that a lot of these button compasses are so cheap that they are off quite a bit. Now would I use it for primary navigation? No. But in bad conditions if it was all I had I would definitely use it to keep from walking in circles. I have a Casio Pathfinder watch I wear that has an electronic compass that is accurate enough for me to use and keep my bearings in a rough sense. Over the years I've managed to collect quite a few compasses and had a chance to use them in the field. I made a video with my observations. Now it's on YouTube so some people may not want to watch it. :) The lightest full featured compass is the Suunto M-3G. This is a non-mirrored compass weighing 1.6 oz.. It has declination, global needle, inclinometer and useful map scales on the base. The global needle, as others have stated, is they way to go. I own the M-3DL version which I've had for years. It is the non-global needle version of the M-3G basically. The needle on it takes a longer to settle and it is harder to use when on the move. The global needle settles faster, works when moving, and is much more tolerant if the base is not perfectly level. And for the record, I took my M-3DL to New Zealand for some hiking and when I pulled it out it the needle was stuck pointing straight down. It was completely worthless! I needed a compass that was balanced for that region. Supposedly the global needle will take care of that. However the chances that a button compass is adjusted for such a thing is basically zero. So consider that if Southern Hemisphere trekking is on your mind. f448fe82f3
