What is your purpose in this world? What dreams has God given you? What visions do you desire to achieve? That is the vision I speak of. That is what you are to write down. Writing the vision, dreams, and goals of your life is not only an encouragement to you, but an act of faith.


This is probably the most frustrating part of the vision process. We can write and we can work, but ultimately, we always have to wait. Tarrying is an old school term for waiting and in English, we typically define it as a passive act. However, it is actually an authoritative act. In short, we are empowered to do what we must until the God-given visions come to past.


Make sure you write down the vision God gives you. Read it again and again, and think about it repeatedly. Run with it. Do not slow down, even when life comes against you. Remember, challenging circumstances will come your way once you receive a vision because of the vision. They come to make you stop believing it or be discouraged. Hold that Word and run with it!

 As he does his ministers and people sooner or later, in one way or another, when they call upon him with humility and reverence, with faith and fervency: and said, Write the vision;

 which the prophet now had from him, concerning the coming of the Messiah, and the destruction of the enemies of the church and people of God: and this he has orders to "write"; not only to tell it to the people then present, for their particular information and satisfaction; but to write it, that it may be read over and over, and that it may remain, and be of use in times to come: and make [it] plain upon tables,

 engrave it in plain legible letters on tables of wood; on box tree, as the Septuagint version; on which they used to write before paper was found out and used. Writing tables are of ancient use; they were used in and before the times of Homer, for he speaks F15 of writing very pernicious things on a two leaved table; wherefore Josephus must be mistaken when he suggests F16 that letters were not found out in the times of Homer. These tables were made of wood, sometimes of one sort, and sometimes of another; sometimes they were made of the pine tree, as appears from Euripides F17 but, for the most part, of box F18, according to the Greek version as above; and consisted sometimes of two leaves, for the most part of three or five, covered with wax F19, on which impressions were easily made, and continued long, and were very legible; and these impressions or letters were formed with an iron style or pen; see ( Jeremiah 17:1 ) this the Greeks and Tuscans first used, but was afterwards forbidden by the Romans, who, instead of it, ordered an instrument of bone to be used F20: hence these tables were wont to be called "wax", because besmeared with it; and so, in wills and testaments written on them, the heirs are said to be written either in the first wax, or in the bottom of the wax F21, that is, of the will, or in the lowest part of the table, or what we should call the bottom of the leaf or page: and it was a custom among the Romans, as Cicero F23 relates, that the public affairs of every year were committed to writing by the Pontifex Maximus, or high priest, and published on a table, and set to view within doors, that the people might have an opportunity and be able to know them; yea, it was usual to hang up laws, approved and recorded, in tables of brass, in their market places, and in their temples, that F24 they might be seen and read; the same we call annals. In like manner the Jewish prophets used to write and expose their prophecies publicly on tables, either in their own houses, or in the temple, that everyone that passed by might read them. That he may run that readeth it;

 may run through the whole without any difficulty, without making any stop, being written in such large capital letters; and those cut so well, and made so plain, that a man might run it over at once with ease, or even read it as he was running; nor need he stop his pace, or stand to read. The Targum is,


When God speaks to you, write it down. Use your smart phone, your iPad, a journal, or a 3-ring notebook and write down the things God says to you and the vision He gives you. Write out scripture verses like Ps. 139:16-17, Jeremiah 29:11, Jeremiah 33:3, just to name a few, and personalize them by inserting your name in the verses. Make it a habit to regularly read the vision God has given you and also read the personalized scriptures He shows you. As you do, it will build faith in your heart so that you can put action to your vision and run with it! Vision without action is merely a dream. Action without vision is just passing the time. A vision with action can change the world. 


Let's say you've finally crafted the perfect vision statement that makes everyone in the C-suite proud. Marketing updated the website, ran a PR, and posted across all company social media channels. The new direction is making waves in the company, but as time passes, everyone forgets about it and gets on with their business-as-usual.


It takes work and creativity to write an inspiring vision statement. Here, we'll break down the elements of a great vision statement, guide you through the process, and walk through a few examples of excellent vision statements and explain what makes them great.


Collaborate. The vision statement should reflect the character of your entire company, and there's no better way to accomplish this than to write the statement alongside key members of your team. Gather leaders from across the organization to participate in vision statement brainstorms, and run drafts by these same people to get buy-in on your final vision statement.


Write first, edit later. Don't try to write a succinct, well-crafted vision statement right out of the gate. Put everything you think of down on paper, no matter how small. You may not see the value in a particular idea when it crosses your mind, but if you write it down anyway, it may spark better ideas later on.


Avoid buzzwords and jargon. Using "industry-speak" makes a brand feel aloof and inaccessible, even to people within the industry. Plain language is always more powerful than jargon, so if you find yourself falling back on buzzwords, isolate the phrase in question and picture a friend or family member asking, "What does this actually mean?" Write or record the explanation you would give to that person and use that language to replace the buzzwords in your vision statement.


There's a lot more to crafting a great vision statement than just writing a few sentences. In order to create a statement that's truly aspirational and inspiring, you're going to need to do a little bit of work. Here's our seven-step process to write a great vision statement:


Depending on your industry, this list may be longer or shorter; the main point is to write down a basic overview of the group of people you're writing for. If you're only thinking about your customers, your vision statement may not feel as relatable to employees or might not inspire potential funders to invest. Check your drafts against this list to make sure it feels applicable to all of your key stakeholders.


Once you've adjusted your vision paragraph and made the changes you wanted to make, it's time to edit your vision paragraph down to a vision statement. In many cases, your paragraph may naturally shrink as you solicit and implement feedback from others, and you may even want to specifically ask for opinions on how your paragraph could be more concise.


Now write down your overall vision and your goals as well. Have short-term financial goals, those that you plan to achieve in the next 3 years. Also have long-term goals, those you plan to achieve between 4-10 years from now. Prioritize those goals based on their order of importance to you and make sure that each goal has a given deadline that you are working with. A GOAL WITHOUT A DUE DATE IS JUST A WISH.

3 For the vision is yet for an appointed time, but at the end it shall speak, and not lie: though it tarry, wait for it; because it will surely come, it will not tarry.

4 Behold, his soul which is lifted up is not upright in him: but the just shall live by his faith.


The Bible makes it clear to that the vision is for an appointed time, for a future fulfillment, the Message translation says (the vision-message is a witness pointing to what is coming) but this can only happen if you write the vision down.


The worst thing to do in life is to go through life without a plan and purpose. Vision is God's plan and purpose for your life here on earth. Mission is how you go about achieving your vision.

When you don't know where you are going to, every road looks like the right road to go. A lack of vision is the major reason for confusion on earth. One of your greatest discoveries in life will be the discovery of your true purpose here on earth.

The Bible says "write the vision and make it plain.." This means that there is a place for WRITING your vision down and there is also a place for making it SIMPLE for comprehension.

Who's the custodian of all visions? The Holy Spirit. Call on the person of the Holy Spirit and He will tell you exactly God's plan and purpose for you here on earth.
