Recorded Skype calls are saved in your Skype chat. From there, you can save them to your downloads, a chosen location, or the default location, which is Documents > Videos > Recordings. Please wait several minutes after the video is recorded to allow it time to process and appear in your files.


There are certainly ways to do this on one computer, but they generally only last until the next Skype upgrade. Skype became the premier chat program on earth by ripping control away from you and keeping it.


Hi all, first-time poster on this sub. I just want to preface this by saying that I have never used Reaper before, so I'm not very familiar with its features and whether or not what I want to do is even possible. I prefer to get some direct answers from experienced users, though I will also look around online.






My cohost and I are returning from a hiatus to record the next episode of our podcast tonight, and because he's moved out of state since the last time we did an episode, we have to record ourselves over the Internet. Neither of us has used Skype to do this before. I am vaguely aware of a feature in that program that lets you record your own audio (and possibly the other persons?) and then share that file, but for convenience and less chance of mixing up timings, I'd love to do the following:


Is this possible? I'm coming from using Adobe Audition and while I've never had to try this on there, I'm aware of a process called mix-minus that is technically meant to do what I want to do? I've just always been confused on how to set that up or what I would need to do it. If there's a way to do this in Reaper, please let me know. If not, I'd love to hear how best to get his audio in from Skype (or another program?) onto Reaper so that the flow matches up with my audio.


The problem arises from non-availibility of Realtek Generic driver for Ubuntu 20.04. It has a kernel of 5.4. But Realtek driver for Linux supports Kernel only upto 3.0. Thus the laptops having Realtek sound card will keep facing this problem unless Realtek releases updated drivers.

Im doing remote voice over recordings with the clients on Skype and Im trying work out whether Im 'doubling up' on my signal and/or monitor signal into Logic where the takes are being recorded. My Mic is coming in on AN 5. I monitor on my headphones coming out of 7-8.


The only loopback that seems to work with Skype is using AN 1-2 (which is my main out so Ive been turning off the speakers during sessions). Something tells me Ive not got this routing right yet as the gain staging I use coming into TM from the preamp is radically changing from when Im not recording with Skype.


However it is no problem. Just use another output (e.g. 3-4) for your main outs. I do it like this for years now and it's working perfect. Just route the main out (1-2) from the submix channels to your hardware main outs (e.g. 3-4) and you're there.


I can't get the sound of the microphone into Skype. I tried analog input 9 (XLR1), I tried analog input 1 (via a preamp), I tried to looback via an unused hardware output. Each time I select the correct input in Skype audio parameters. Unfortunately it doesn't work, the audio signal never enters skype.


Skype recognizes all my UFX outputs. I use Outputs 5&6 and enable loopback on those outputs. Any Input channel can then be routed to those outputs. You can listen to your mix being sent to skype by hitting the cue button on the output you choose (5&6 for me). If your listening through headphones you can assign which output the cue sends the mix too. By default, I believe it's 1&2. I use headphones 1 so by the master fader find the assign button and switch it to wherever you want. make sure you don't have your computer sound (playback channel 11&12) routed through your loopback channel and to turn off the cue button when on skype.


We were thinking of steering people away from SMS/texting for that very reason and trying to get them to use the IM feature in Skype for Business, but if those aren't archived anywhere but their personal phone, we aren't gaining anything. I took a look at the privacy agreement here -US/article/Privacy-supplement-for-Microsoft-Skype-for-Business-f2100fe... There are documents specifically for phones and it seems like the conversations are stored on the phone and not in Outlook archives.


So getting back to Bob. I asked him if they used an online meeting platform. They did; Skype for business. As you may be aware, these kind of tools often have the possibility to record your meeting session. Slides that have been shared, including the narration are recorded and available as some sort of movie file. When I pointed that out to Bob he told me he had done that a couple of times but doesn't use it often. Cool! he'd actually used that before, so he knew how to record an online meeting.

While Skype calls may not be being recorded by a 3rd party, a lot of it can stay on your computer.
