I forgot to mention drumming. The full moon drumming sessions I usually attend, where a bunch of strangers sit in a living room and beat on drums and shake noisemakers for an hour, connect me to this place in a way deeper than mere affection.

She was born in Houston, Texas on October 30, 1925. Sallie grew up in The Heights on Herkimer Street, and was the oldest of three sisters and two brothers. She was an excellent student at Reagan High School and played the snare drum as a member of the Reagan Red Coats drum and bugle corp.

Cobra is an all encompassing hip hop sample pack that was created to include every element you need to make placement ready trap beats.

Not only does this pack include free 808s, but it also has melody loops, midi chord progressions and other drum one shots.

Under the S(tree)twork banner, the artwork collective named Futurefarmers, led by artist Amy Franceschini and architect Lode Vranken, worked with collaborating ecologists, woodworkers, sound artists, and drummers to produce several creative outputs, including mobile leaf printers and presses, interactive seed pods, and three slit drums made from trees fallen in the arboretum.

One day Jacson was encouraged by Sun Ra to make a drum. The next day a tree across the street from where the Arkestra lives on Morton Street in Germantown was struck by lightning. Jacson decided he would use this tree to create the drum. He etched it with an emblem from the Egyptian book of the Dead. Sun Ra named it the Ancient Infinity Lightning Wood Drum.

There is a tangible sense of jubilation. Through music, spoken word, dance and song, the drummers and printer makers animate a joyful atmosphere where residents, passerby gather and dance under the trees of the arboretum. As Earth Day comes to a close, a champagne bottle is carefully rigged up to mark the momentous occasion.

I've probably said this before, but some of my favorite playing by Hawkins were the tunes he played with Paul Simon, like "Kodachrome" "Take Me to the Mardi Gras" and "Still Crazy After all these Years." On the former two you can hear the ska/reggae influence on his drumming, with the emphasis on the upbeat (something you can also hear in his great track with the Staples Singers, "I'll Take You There").

Drumline

The SBH Drumline is an audition-based activity open to grades 4-8 only. The drumline is a section of percussion instruments usually played as part of a musical marching ensemble. Performance engagements include parades, marching competitions, band battles, community events and more. Drumline participants must display discipline, responsibility, and perseverance. Light strength conditioning is also a part of the program, since students will have to be able to hold heavy pieces of equipment while in motion. The audition is based on having rhythm, the ability to count and read notes, and proficiency in playing rhythms by ear. The positions on the drumline are 4 snares, 2 quads, 4 cymbals (4 pairs) and 6 Bass drums.

Hendrix, who will serve as head drum major, is a junior saxophone player majoring in music education. Harnish, a senior trombone player and music education major, will continue in his fourth year as a member of the marching band, though his first as drum major. Rowe, a senior mechanical engineer and trumpet player, is also a first time drum major. Wheeler plays bassoon and is a senior music education major.

In addition to being student leaders of the Razorback Marching Band, the drum majors will help coordinate rehearsals and conduct performances at halftime, for exhibition and in the stands. These select musicians also actively coordinate other campus and community performances.

But some of them have a checkered past. In recent years, government auditors, state attorneys general and the federal Department of Education have accused many nonprofits of misconduct such as steering students toward high-interest loans, offering cash to universities to drum up student business, providing questionable compensation and perks to top executives and overcharging the government by a total of about $37 million.
