I didn't get the impression that the OP was opposed to interacting with 
and configuring the connection.

Rather I took the OP's question to be can I get Internet connectivity 
using Bluetooth and without needing to configure 802.11 wireless.

It's been a LONG time since I've done anything with Bluetooth other than 
headphones, but I think that it should be possible for the OP to pair 
the XP system with a Bluetooth device that is used as an Internet 
connection.

I think that Bluetooth based tethering used to be a thing.  But it's bee 
too long and I don't remember.

I do think that Bluetooth based tethering would provide what I 
understand the OP to be asking about.

If not Bluetooth tethering, then perhaps Bluetooth connected modem and a 
PPP stack / Dial Up Networking on XP using said Bluetooth modem could 
work.  I'd assume that the modem & PPP would be very short distance, 
possibly the same device that would then terminate said PPP and route 
out it's normal Internet connection.
