While thinking about how to test that theory (and coming up with plugging
another keyboard in and see what it would do) I realized something : I'm
using a KVM.

And whatdoyou know, the origional, possible malfunctioning keyboard directly
plugged into the puter works fine.

IOW, I made a fool of myself by blindly assuming that it was something
Windows does (similar to handling special keystrokes which shut down the
'puter, launch the webbrowser, etc.), and not considering other
possibilities - like a failing keyboard and other things.

Now I have to read up on that KVM ...

Thanks.
