	+1
I removed Startpage from my favorites when it started
demanding I allow javascript. "to get to know me better".
There is absolutely no reason to use scripting. Classic htm
will submit any user's queries to the search engine. Any user's
comments can be captired too.

Why are we requiring users to enable JavaScript?

Startpage relies on JavaScript to make our pages and features
functional. We’re constantly keeping the site up to date with the best
UX and the most modern tech stack, which requires us to utilize
JavaScript.

I have no idea what "tech stack" means. Datamining? Stealing
information? WTF is an "UX" ?
