Ah, UK/US difference again. In UK, the form formule is 1677-1829
(https://www.oed.com/search/dictionary/?scope=Entries&q=formule),
whereas the form formula is current
(https://www.oed.com/dictionary/formula_n?tab=factsheet#3817037 - which
also shows that it exists in US English).

Formula comes from the Latin formula; formule comes from the French
formule, which comes from the Latin formula.

Isn't language fun!
