Magic Wand Vector Free Download

Hi! I am a professional designer that has always loved Adobe Illustrator and primarily work in vector. However, I detest Adobe's new subscription model and am very attracted to the price and reviews of Affinity Designer. I downloaded the trial version last night and tried watching You Tube & Vimeo tutorials, but could not find anything like the Magic Wand Tool. I use this tool every single day and cannot live without it.

Am I missing something? Is there not a way to select all of one color? The color selection abilities seemed very elementary and more similar to Photoshop which I'm not digging. I was also having trouble dragging over a group of elements to select and Group. They would not select. In my AI files, they were already grouped, but for some reason became UnGrouped when imported into Affinity. It will take me FOREVER to go in and manually click each little vector detail. Help!


Affinity's color selection tools (like Affinity Photo's "Flood Select tool" that is equivalent to PS's "Magic Wand" & the Selection Brush tools in both apps) only work on pixel layers, so they are useless for vector objects. There is also no provision to select every pixel or object of the same color.


You can select both pixel and vector layers with the Magic Wand tool.



If you work on artwork with both vector and pixel layers, your selection will not appear on the vector layer. However, if you make a Magic Wand selection on a vector layer, you will be able to view your selection on the pixel layer.


The picture below shows the initial image, and the desired effect (sorta), First I used the magic wand to remove the background around the bell. Then I did CTRL+I and inverted the colors. This was great because I ended up with that small shadow under the black. Then I used CTRL+U to get the color I wanted (blue & orange).






This is what you do. Go the the channels box copy one color channel. Select the copied channel. Magic wand select the outer white area, grow selection. The color areas act as a buffer you can safely grow into. fill with black.


Duplicate this channel, magic wand select one white area. Grow again and fill with black (if your fill wast good enough, undo and grow more then fill). Go to the copied channel. repeat for the other area.


Four types of selection tools include the Lasso tool (a freehand type selection; you can select between the magnetic lasso tool, the polygonal lasso tool, and the freehand lasso tool to create lined-selections around an object), the Object Selection tool (selects a given object in an image for example), the Magic wand tool (selects solid colors), and the Marquee tool (you can select between the rectangular, elliptical border selections to select an object).


The four kinds of selection tools in Photoshop include the marquee tool, the lasso tool, the magic wand tool, and the object selection tool. In the marquee tool, you make a selection in the shape of either a rectangle, elliptical, or a single row and column. There are three lasso tools that allow the user to either make a freehand selection(lasso tool), connect lines to make a selection(polygonal lasso tool) or make connections that automatically connect to the edge of an image(magnetic lasso tool). Next, the magic wand tool selects the area with the same color. Lastly, the object selection tool automatically finds and selects an object.

Each selection tool has a different function, for example the rectangular marquee tool makes a square or rectangle border around an object. Compared to the elliptical marquee tool that makes an oval or a circle border around an object. The lasso tool select object free hand and polygonal tool select an object to make straight edges. Finally the object selection tool, can select a thing in a photo like a person, place or thing. The selection tool that only pick solid color is the magic wand tool, it selects an area and then you can change that selected area to a different color.
