Ideas for a 'template' usage?

So I don't think Q has a template facility.  I have in one of my NPO 
club accounts the need to make a deposit monthly that contains a number 
of different categories.

What I am think of doing is to make a split transaction with ALL the 
categories listed as zero dollars and saving this as a deposit well into 
the future (like 12/31/2099).  This way it will simply sit at the bottom 
of the checking deposit register and I can copy and paste each month, 
and then simply add the individual real amounts.

Anyone have any other ideas or thoughts of perhaps how you might 
implement such a 'template' facility?
