With the exception of transactions in investment accounts, the process 
should be relatively straight forward (assuming I fully understand the 
issue).

I would use the All Transactions pseudo-register to make it possible to 
find and change as many transactions as possible in one process.

Use CTRL-f Find All to find all the transactions that contain 
"HOUSEHOLD" in the Category field.

The height and width of the resulting "Search Results" dialog box can be 
changed. and columns shrunk/expanded, where desired to get a more 
accurate picture of the transactions found.

You can sort the results by most, if not all, the Found fields; I 
suspect sorting on Tag would make the process easiest.

You can then use the Select column to select the transactions to be 
modified (noting that the top-level Split transactions will have 
"--Split--" in the Category column - you can, and should, ignore those 
rows).
[Holding down the SHIFT key while clicking the first and last of a group 
of rows works like selecting multiple files in Windows Explorer.]

The actual split lines will be displayed in blue with the text "SPLIT" 
followed by the split line number. Those can be selected where 
appropriate. Naturally, the non-split transactions can also be selected.

When you have Selected all the transactions you want to modify, click 
the Edit Transactions button in the lower-right.

At the foot of the resulting Find and Replace dialog is a "Replace" 
dropdown and a "With" dropdown. Choose "Tag" in the Replace dropdown, 
and choose your desired new Tag value from the With dropdown (if you 
wanted to replace a non-blank Tag with a blank Tag, you would just key a 
Space in the With field.

Then click the Replace All button.
