Ongoing oddity: Running balance vanishes, row dissapears.

R65.29 Windows but this has been an ongoing oddity.

When I add a transaction, the running balance column vanishes. The row
I was entering also vanisshes, but it IS there when I quit and
re-open. 
I can add a number of transactions, and it will happen, but when I
exit and re-open, they are there.  Sometimes I can quit and re-open
Quicken and it starts working again, sometimes it's 3 or 4 times I
need to quit before it starts working again.

computers.
