As far as I understand, Microsoft has not supported installing Windows 
in a single partition since Windows Vista.

I disagree.

Copying something inherently means that there is something to be copied. 
  Thus the something to be copied implies that time has been spent 
installing programs.  Thus you aren't avoiding the time installing programs.
