I work under Kubuntu. I have a USB drive that U se as backup and somehow I set it up so that it is root who has all permissions. So I have to precede every copy command with sudo, etc. I take it I have to into root in order to give me, the user, these permissions, but how do I do that? When I do a right click for Properties and go into advanced Permissions, I get a faded screen, and nothing works, no doubt because I'm not root. -- Dieter Britz
