I had (probably still have in the bottom of some junk box) both an 
internal and external Iomega 100 MB Zip drive. iirc it was SuSE that tried 
to park the head someplace in low Earth orbit.  It was a 'I wonder if this 
still works?' experiment so I didn't spend much time trying to get it to 
work. Memory is cloudy but I think the external was PCMCIA.
