Do you have a contemporary source for that?

They library was almost certainly gone before the end of the C3rd, the
conquest of Alexandria was in the C7th, and the anecdote you quote
doesn’t turn up until the C13th, one of a number of dubiuosly evidenced
attempts to pin the damage on one religion another.
