The point is that the behavior of a group of people has more to do with
their interpretation of whatever system they nominally follow, than with
the specific system. A system which traces its origins in war can yield
quiet contemplation and abstract research; conversely a system which
highlights love and self-sacrifice can yield wars and massacres. This is
all pretty obvious given a passing familiarity with history, for all
that it may be inconvenient to anyone who prefers to remain attached to
their prejudices.
