In fact I found it quite a handfull running a large IPv4 /22 with about ~600 active machines on one LAN with IPv4 was quite something. We were introducing IPv6, but I retired before the traffic was mostly IPv6. But IPv6's design can make it possible to run LANs with a lot more active machines, as instead of broadcast, it makes use of Multicast services.
