All Apple is doing is following Microsoft's lead,
especially when it comes to software subscriptions.
I find it ironic that these huge, right-wing companies
are working to achieve Karl Marx's fondest dream:
the elimination of private property.  (We could
quibble about these companies being private themselves,
or just acknowledge that they're more part of the
government than private citizens.)

Gates was never a hero in my eyes.  Remember him
whining after a computer club spread his BASIC
interpreter around?  Or whining nearly every week
when the DOJ foiled his various attempts at creating
a monopoly?  He's nothing more than a mediocre

No, but technically MS-DOS was a pile of crap.
Consider the COPY command's refusal to copy an
empty file (something which it did _not_ inherit
from CP/M, whose PIP command worked correctly).
Or its flakiness in advancing the date at midnight,
or that ridiculous hex 1A "end of file" character
which should have been eliminated the moment people
realized that the MS-DOS file system was storing
the file size to the byte, making the hex 1A
useful for nothing but losing data in the event
of, say a line hit.

I'll give up my flip phone when they pry it from
my cold dead fingers.  It sends and receives calls
and texts (including pictures).  I neither need
nor want anything more.  They're not hard to
find, either.  I got my latest one for $100;
its $50 predecessor was just too shitty, but
as with anything else you get what you pay for..

In our latest account update with the telco, they
threw in a Google Pixel 9a for a dollar.  It sits
on a shelf in its original box, a testament to my
attempt to live as Google-free a life as possible.
