  If it was about Alice Springs, it probably was the Stuart Highway.

  The Hume is in Victoria and New South Wales, i.e. in the east.

  Funny that in Oz, you call the highways by their names, not their
numbers.

  Apparently the Stuart Highway is the A87 and (from south to north)
becomes the 1 at Daly Waters. Never knew that in all those thirty years.
