Is that likely to happen, for as long as the kernel supports 32-bit
addressing on so many non-x86 architectures?

Looking at the current arch list
<https://github.com/torvalds/linux/tree/master/arch>, there’s arm (not
arm64), m68k, also (both 32/64 bits) mips, powerpc and sparc, just
from the ones I can easily tell.
