Good luck with that. The word had been around for a long time but Wundt 
was the first to try to draw boundaries between philosophy and physiology 
and was an experimentalist. In the US William James is the start.

James was a pragmatist that goes back to Pierce but he was a philosopher 
and mathematician.

It's easy to stumble into Zen paradoxes if you believe the wetware does 
all the work and language is an epiphenomenon for stories we tell 
ourselves post facto but still have to use language to try to explain it.
