outlook express files

I have what I think is a strange situation.  One person on another list 
suggested I do a search for outlook express files, either by name alone or 
with the extension .dbx and indicated I could delete it from the search 
results and that it would delete the contents but not the folder.  Outlook 
express is broken on my husband's computer because it was inundated with old 
messages; over 26,000 in one folder in particular.  We have a tech coming 
out but I'd like to clear that folder before he comes.  We can no longer 
open outlook express on his computer and were told this is most likely 
because there is a 2 gb max withoutlook express and all those thousands of 
messages have probably exceeded that limit.  I did a search on his computer 
and could find not one single dbx file.  I then tried on mine which has no 
problem.  Same result.  I happen to have a folder in outlook express for my 
book port mail.  I just did a search for that folder and it came up with 
eleven but no dbx and all seemed to pertain to bookport documentation or 
bookport transfer.  So, as I say, no dbx.  I even tried searching just the 
extension; no files.  We're using windows xp home.  I am wondering if any of 
you can give me other suggestions as to how to find my outlook express 
folders without going into outlook express.  Your help, as always, is 
appreciated.
