Participation in video description study

 
Hi all.  A student from Ryerson University, Toronto Ontario Canada has
called the Alliance for Equality of Blind Canadians (AEBC) requesting that
his survey be sent to as many blind and partially sighted people as
possible.  I have not checked out the survey and do not endorse it, I merely
forward the information for you to decide on its merits.  
 
Please post to other blindness related lists so that his study can be guided
by those who benefit from this access to entertainment, current affairs and
educational media.

This link will bring the user to a survey. Once complete, 5 clips video
description will be played, and the viewers opinions of each clip will be
captured after each one is played.

Dear Carmen Branje, 
The review of your protocol REB File REB 2007- 164 is now complete.  The
project has been 
approved for a one year period.  Please note that before proceeding with
your project,  compliance 
with other required University approvals/ certifications,  institutional
requirements,  or governmental 
authorizations may be required.   
This approval may be extended after one year upon request.  Please be
advised that if the project is 
not renewed,  approval will expire and no more research involving humans may
take place.  If this is 
a funded project,  access to research funds may also be affected. 
Please note that REB approval policies require that you adhere strictly to
the protocol as last 
reviewed by the REB and that any modifications must be approved by the Board
before they can be 
implemented.  Adverse or unexpected events must be reported to the REB as
soon as possible with 
an indication from the Principal Investigator as to how,  in the view of the
Principal Investigator, 
these events affect the continuation of the protocol. 
Finally,  if research subjects are in the care of a health facility,  at a
school,  or other institution or 
community organization,  it is the responsibility of the Principal
Investigator to ensure that the ethical 
guidelines and approvals of those facilities or institutions are obtained
and filed with the REB prior 
to the initiation of any research.
