Fw: Need Help with XP

I am running Windows XP and MS WORKS 2002 witch includes WORD.
As a preventive measure I cloned my “C” boot drive then switched the
drives and disconnected the original “C”. 
Since this I have the following problems.
1 I lost ability to create a new “Restore Point”.
2 Deleted items no longer go into the Recycle bin. They just disappear.
3 I get an error message when attempting to open “WORD” from anywhere.
WORD opens OK after notifying me of problem.
