Sheila: First, are you using the Google standard search or are you using the Advanced Google search? Using the advanced search can really improve the quality of the search results. In addition to the web search and indexing utilities online, there are some software packages that you can use from your own computer that will give you concurrent searches of multiple engines and indexes such as Google and Yahoo! These search software packages can sometimes be obtained free or at a fairly modest cost say $25-$40. These usually have easily used features to implement complex boolean searches. One program is WebFerret, and another is Webseeker.
