Intelligent User Interfaces (IUI) is the premier conference for reporting on the study of user interfaces with intelligent devices. This topic is of increasing importance as the consumer is interfacing with a wide variety of devices with embedded computation and connectivity and the computer is fading into the background. IUI is where the community of people interested in Human-Computer Interaction (HCI) meets the Artificial Intelligence (AI) community. We're also very interested in contributions from related fields, such as psychology, cognitive science, computer graphics, the arts, etc. IUI 2011 is working with the new ACM Transactions on Interactive Intelligent Systems (http://tiis.acm.org) to enable streamlined processing of journal submissions based on IUI 2011 papers: On the authors' request, the IUI PC chairs will pass on to the journal the reviews of their IUI 2011 paper and any other information (e.g., arising from a best-paper nomination) that might help to enhance and expedite the reviewing for the journal. As the first journal in the IUI area, ACM TiiS offers a unique opportunity for IUI authors to find the reviewers and readers who are in the best position to appreciate their research. IUI Demo Session The IUI demo session is intended to provide a forum to showcase innovative implementations, systems and technologies demonstrating new ideas about how people and computers could "intelligently" interact. The topics of interest include all aspects of intelligent user interfaces (please refer to the topics indicated in regular CFP: http://www.iuiconf.org/IUI2011CFP.pdf). If you can demonstrate smarter, easier to use, and more effective interfaces, we want to see it! Submission Procedure for Demo Proposal The deadline is October 29, 2010. Please log on http://iui2011.confmaster.net/ to make a submission, selecting the paper type "Demo Description". For your convenience, we provide paper templates in Microsoft Word and LaTeX: * Microsoft Word document template (http://www.iuiconf.org/chi2009pubsformat.doc) * LaTeX class file (http://www.iuiconf.org/chi2009_LaTeX.zip) The submission should include: 1. The demo proposal should not exceed 2 pages in the standard SIGCHI publication format. If accepted, these 2 pages will be included in the conference proceedings. The two-page paper should describe how the system is used to solve practically important problems. It may contain discussion of system implementation, deployment, or case studies of use in the field. References to previously published work (if possible), and/or sufficient details regarding the underlying technologies should be included. 2. An additional short informal description (1-2 pages) describe what attendees will be able to see or do during your demo (e.g. screenshots), and itemize any equipments or facilities that you will bring for your system demonstration. Please note that demonstrators will be required to bring their own equipment. The detailed description of basic requirements includes space necessary, site requirements, such as power supplies, network access, etc. If your demo is WWW-based, or video clip, or a demo storyboard, please provide a currently-active URL. Please ensure that this Web site is active and accessible over the duration of the review process. Please include all information in a single PDF-file.
