It seems to be a CLISP problem.

I downloaded and tried Allegro CL, which loads load-powerloom.lisp without any problems.

A FIXNUM is bigger in ACL:

CL-USER> (print most-positive-fixnum)

536870911 

Is there any workaround for CLISP?
