I have built a thin XML-RPC wrapper around the Java version of Powerloom
in order to interface it with Python. I could release this publicly if
people have a need for it. Since Ruby comes standard with XML-RPC, using
it should be fairly trivial.

I can provide the following:
 - Source code for xml-rpc wrapper
 - Netbeans project files
 - Compiled jar
 - Sample client source code in python
 - Python utilities making it easier to talk to PowerLoom (converting
s-expressions to python lists and vice-versa)

Let me know if you are interested. There will be almost zero support for
it, but it runs well and is being continuously improved as I'm
developing it for a commercial product.

Subject: [PowerLoom Forum] accessing PowerLoom from Ruby?

I'm interested in accessing PowerLoom from Ruby. I can
think of a couple of Ways To Do It, as:

Have my Ruby script start up an interactive PowerLoom session,
talking to it via a pair of sockets.

Mix JRuby into PowerLoom's Java implementation.

The socket notion seems a bit kludgy and error-prone; the JRuby
notion is far beyond my Java-fu. Can anyone suggest a Better
Way To Do It?
