xpce connections with only horizontal/vertical lines

I need to draw connections with only horizontal/vertical lines. From what I
can tell, connections current draw only straight from endpoint to endpoint.
What is the simplest way to implement that. As best I can tell I need to
extend the connection class since it appears to handle drawing the line.
