Before this dumb move there were a few issues with non-Prolog code being classified as Prolog code but fixing them would likely have required more samples of the misclassified languages. Instead, they simply deleted all Prolog code samples and tried to force anyone with Prolog code to use the .prolog extension. After several people complained, they added three simple Prolog files but these do a poor job and linguist still misclassifies a lot of repositories and gists with Prolog code. As of today, They still define Prolog as: Prolog: type: programming color: "#74283c" primary_extension: .prolog extensions: - .ecl - .pl This despite people repeatedly telling them that the de facto standard extension is .pl.
