This may be something to do with Yahoo's recently revised DMARC policy. 
The stricter policy is breaking mailing lists. Gmail users may then also 
be caught in the crossfire, as Google enforces Yahoo's DMARC policy. I 
think the change to DMARC policy was adopted after so many Yahoo 
accounts were hacked and contact lists stolen earlier this year, leading 
to massive levels of spam from spoofed Yahoo accounts to personal 
contact lists (bypassing regular spam blocking). Yahoo probably does not 
care too much about it breaking email for the 5% of its users who are 
regular users of mailing lists.
