The results you provided are very interesting. I have tried various Java versions, including Zulu, on Linux Debian, Mint, and Ubuntu systems, but unfortunately, I couldn't find a solution. Before switching to the Ubuntu 20.04 system you mentioned earlier, I tried all possible combinations of R, Weka, rJava, and Java on my Debian system in order to find a solution. I also compiled R with GCC version 9, but it yielded no positive results. As of yesterday, I have exhausted all possibilities and couldn't find a solution. It seems that using Ubuntu 20.04 is the only option for now.

"I'd love to know if other Java programs that use rJava to enable R commands to be issued from a Java application exhibit the same issue on recent versions of Debian(?)-based Linux systems." This is also a curiosity for me.

I'm in the process of setting up the same environment on Ubuntu 20.04. I expect to finish it within a few days. Hopefully, the installation goes smoothly.

Actually, my goal is not specifically to run it on Debian systems. Any Linux distribution would suffice. It took me a long time to figure out which one. You have already found it. Thank you very much for that. I will give it a try.

What I want to achieve is running "mlr" algorithms on a Linux distribution. Windows is not very stable for me as a head node for computation. It has many disadvantages in terms of memory and computation time. However, I want to use Windows as a compute node. I cannot use MAC-OS.

After successfully running "mlr" algorithms on a Linux distribution, my next step is to perform distributed computing with WekaServer on heterogeneous or homogeneous Linux and Windows systems.

I have an additional question regarding this. Is it possible to run "mlr" algorithms on Linux and Windows compute nodes using the WekaServer plugin on a Linux distribution? Should the computation nodes be homogeneous or can they be heterogeneous?
