I am not sure how I should read Stefan's reply on r1927054 whether it is a veto or not. r1927054 would be handy for me personally as I have to support RedHat 7 builds at $work which are affected by this, but I get and accept his concerns. While one could argue that the patch is very easy and thus should be added it opens a door that people would request us to support old libcurl versions or other 3rd party libraries we depend on where the cases are much more difficult. It should probably be left to the builder to patch this away. OTOH the check in configure accepts all curl versions >= 7.29. Hence I think it should be adjusted as well if we do not want to support that old versions. Maybe we need a more general discussion outside of this release what versions of 3rd party dependencies we still would like to support and what rules we follow for this such that we set the correct expectations for our users.
