This ticket appears to be about two separate things. Request_uri is defined on
https://httpd.apache.org/docs/current/expr.html - I presume some consolidation
or cross linking between this and
https://httpd.apache.org/docs/current/env.html could he valuable.

Meanwhile I'm not really sure what your "by the way" section means but would
appreciate if separate issues would be tracked in separate tickets - it makes
it much easier to ascertain when a ticket is actually resolved.
