Problems with backhand when a machine drops out of the pool

Hi,

Out configuration of the backhand is a two level tier with the first one 
serving the requests for all the users and forwarding tho the backend 
machines.

When a backend machine drops out, module backhand crashes in all of the 
machines. But apache is still running but that client processes (forks of 
the primary apache processes) are not able to communicate with the server. 
The error message says the client is no able to create the umbillical 
cord......After the mod-backhand crashes the front-end start using itself as 
a serve, although we use the removeSelf option.

Does anybody seen this?. Any ideas?.
