Old knowledge refreshed

As my webmaster duties expand, I keep running into tidbits that I had 
forgotten about.

Formatting.

A lot of the Content Owners on my new site use WYSIWYG tools instead of 
just writing HTML, and many of those tools are less than up to date 
W.R.T. standards and good practices using the default settings.  As a 
result, I've been battling a rash of "blank pages" since moving to 
mod_layout to enforce Corporate Identity.  If the customer supplied web 
pages are inline and use nested tables to format text, and the 
mod_layout header uses indent formatted tables, most browsers we use 
(IE, Netscape, Konqueror, and Mozilla) get confused to one extent or 
another.  Netscape is notoriously bad at this and often just produces a 
blank page.

The fix is simple, have your users set their WYSIWYG tools to use 
indentation on their nested tables and everything works peachy.  Of 
course, you may have to go talk to them with a stick, but you'll be 
happier for it.
