Since the bulk of messages to the list seem to be problems (not that there's anything wrong with that), I wanted to throw out a success story. We have been using mod_layout for a little over a year to add a sliver header to all of the sites we host (around 175). We had been using Apache 1.3.x and mod_layout 3.2.1, which worked -- with some annoying warts. Chief among them was 3.2's lack of proper last-modified: headers, which caused our upstream Squid cache to not cache headered pages. Recently we encountered a situation where it became necessary to upgrade to the Apache 2.0 series, so I took a fresh look at mod_layout 4.0.2a (I had tried it sometime back, as seen on this list). After a few hours of mucking around, I was stuck on the same problem I reported here over a year ago -- garbage being randomly included in the HTML output. I saw where krow had recommended the CVS version to someone, so I figured I'd give that a try. Lo and behold, it seems to have fixed the bug! Brian, you ought to think about releasing those changes and bumping the version number. --- Jim Kane <[email protected]> | 501-324-8900 | http://www.arkansas.gov/ Systems Manager | Information Network of Arkansas | 877-7AR-EGOV
