Hi Allison,

I suspect this is because the layout template is working and thus the
module sets a 200 OK code in Apache, though the page that is being
'wrapped' by mod_layout doesn't exist.

Does that make sense? Sorry it's not a resolution to your problem... :-(

Doesn't anyone have any suggestions?  Is this a known problem, or is it

I'm using Mod_layout 3.2 and apache 1.3.27 .  I'm using a custom error
document:

ErrorDocument 404 /cgi-bin/guardian.pl?404

The header and footer of the page is being dynamically generated by
mod_layout.  The problem that I'm running into is that the apache logs
generate a 200 response code for pages that should be generating 404
response codes.  Do you have any ideas or suggestions?
